Our problem with sin.

Standard

Mark 7:14-23 (ESV)
14 And he called the people to him again and said to them, “Hear me, all of you, and understand:
15 There is nothing outside a person that by going into him can defile him, but the things that come out of a person are what defile him.”17 And when he had entered the house and left the people, his disciples asked him about the parable. 18 And he said to them, “Then are you also without understanding? Do you not see that whatever goes into a person from outside cannot defile him, 19 since it enters not his heart but his stomach, and is expelled?” ( Thus he declared all foods clean.) 20 And he said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles him. 21 For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, 22 coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. 23 All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.”

Our outside does not count before the Lord. Our insides count before the Lord.  Sin is our problem it causes death.  Jesus redeemed us.  When he died on cross he ended the war between God and us.  He gave us his righteousness we are now  blameless before him.

Zechariah 1:1-6 (NIV)

1 In the eighth month of the second year of Darius, the word of the LORD came to the prophet Zechariah son of Berekiah, the son of Iddo:
2 “The LORD was very angry with your forefathers.
3 Therefore tell the people: This is what the LORD Almighty says: ‘Return to me,’ declares the LORD Almighty, ‘and I will return to you,’ says the LORD Almighty.
4 Do not be like your forefathers, to whom the earlier prophets proclaimed: This is what the LORD Almighty says: ‘Turn from your evil ways and your evil practices.’ But they would not listen or pay attention to me, declares the LORD.
5 Where are your forefathers now? And the prophets, do they live forever?
6 But did not my words and my decrees, which I commanded my servants the prophets, overtake your forefathers? “Then they repented and said, ‘The LORD Almighty has done to us what our ways and practices deserve, just as he determined to do.'”

Return to the Lord, he will give you the Holy Spirit who will change you.  Jesus died for you when he believed GOD. He counted that as righteousness and are you blameless.

Jeremiah 1:4-10 (ESV)
4 Now the word of the LORD came to me, saying,
5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.”
6 Then I said, “Ah, Lord GOD! Behold, I do not know how to speak, for I am only a youth.”
7 But the LORD said to me, “Do not say, ‘I am only a youth’; for to all to whom I send you, you shall go, and whatever I command you, you shall speak.
8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you to deliver you, declares the LORD.”
9 Then the LORD put out his hand and touched my mouth. And the LORD said to me, “Behold, I have put my words in your mouth.
10 See, I have set you this day over nations and over kingdoms, to pluck up and to break down, to destroy and to overthrow, to build and to plant.”

God is sovereign over everything.   God chose him when he was in the womb.   He started being a prophet as ateenager.   Jeremiah made his excuses but God met his need.   His job was to prophet to the nations.   His prophecy burned once he had to write again.  His relatives plotted to kill him.  He was thrown into a deep pit but a faithful man pulled him out. The king put him in jail.   Nebuchadnezzar released him from jail, he believed his prophecy.

The Lord will Restore Zion

PSALM 126:1-6  (ESV)

1 When the LORD restored the fortunes of Zion, we were like those who dream.
2 Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, “The LORD has done great things for them.”
3 The LORD has done great things for us; we are glad.
4 Restore our fortunes, O LORD, like streams in the Negeb!
5 Those who sow in tears shall reap with shouts of joy!
6 He who goes out weeping, bearing the seed for sowing, shall come home with shouts of joy, bringing his sheaves with him.

*In the future Zion will be restored on the tallest mountain.  People will be filled with joy and laughter.  The Lord has done great things for us sending his Son who died for us.   God will change the desert into a water park.  Weeping will

turn into joy.*

The Armor of God

Standard

Ephesians 6:10-20 (ESV)
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might.
11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.
13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm.
14 Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breastplate of righteousness,
15 and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace.
16 In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one;
17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,
18 praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints,
19 and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel,
20 for which I am an ambassador in chains, that I may declare it boldly, as I ought to speak.

‘Paul tells us to stand against the schemes of the devil.  We all are fighting against rulers, authorities, and cosmic powers.  Take up the full armor of God which is the belt of truth which will shield you from the devils darts, breastplate of  righteousness, the readiness of the Gospel, praying at all times in the Spirit make supplications for saints, the helmet of salvation, the readiness given by the gospel of peace, the sword of the Spirit that may protect you from the evil  one which is the word of God.  Truth comes from the Bible. Jesus when he was with devil 40 days 40 nights he defended his self with the word of  God. Being righteous comes from believing in Jesus Christ and in all of God’s promises.    The gospel is comprised of all Jesus did for us- he lavished grace upon us.  Pray at all times and pray all supplication for all saints.   Hold on to your helmet of salvation with both hands.

3 how the mystery was made

known to me by revelation, as I have written briefly.

4 When you read this, you can perceive my insight into the mystery of Christ,

5 which was not made known to the sons of men in other generations as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit.

6 This mystery is that the Gentiles are fellow heirs, members of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ Jesus through the gospel.

Give to the poor.

Matthew 6:2-4 (ESV)
2 “Thus, when you give to the needy, sound no trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, that they may be praised by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.
3 But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,
4 so that your giving may be in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you.

Jesus tells us to give to the poor.  Give to the poor quietly.  Do not announce it..

Romans 4:1-12 (ESV)

1 What then shall we say was gained by Abraham, our forefather according to the flesh?
2 For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God.
3 For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.”
4 Now to the one who works, his wages are not counted as a gift but as his due.
5 And to the one who does not work but believes in him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is counted as righteousness,
6 just as David also speaks of the blessing of the one to whom God counts righteousness apart from works:
7 “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered;
8 blessed is the man against whom the Lord will not count his sin.”
9 Is this blessing then only for the circumcised, or also for the uncircumcised? We say that faith was counted to Abraham as righteousness.
10 How then was it counted to him? Was it before or after he had been circumcised? It was not after, but before he was circumcised.
11 He received the sign of circumcision as a seal of the righteousness that he had by faith while he was still uncircumcised. The purpose was to make him the father of all who believe without being circumcised, so that righteousness would be counted to them as well, oo
12 and to make him the father of the circumcised who are not merely circumcised but who also walk in the footsteps of the faith that our father Abraham had before he was circumcised.

Salvation has  always been by faith.  Faith leads to obedience. Abraham believed before he was circumcised.  Before Abraham sacrificed  Isaac  he believed God’s promises.  Jews were churches infusion, they were telling church members they should be circumcised.   Faith is the only thing for salvation.  Live by Spirit is repenting and forgiving each others.
